Steel stairs as part of the interior and the new regulations that came into force on 1.1.2018

Quality and lightness are images that are firmly associated with steel stakes.

With a variety of colour and material choices, steel staircases can be used to create the desired atmosphere in a versatile way. A good example is. Spanish Hoset staircase, which takes our minds to the Spanish black surface, accompanied by a handrail.

The Steel staircase is suitable for Seka Eeka new- renovation construction and is the sustainable choice of the quality-conscious builder or renovator.

The steel staircase adapts to a variety of staircases in Seka spaces and, when properly designed, is a safe, silent and elegant solution for moving between floors.

Steel Stairs Hoset sizing and design is site-specific. Site-specific dimensioning and design are included in the Aina Hoset steel portal delivery package.

Entry into force on 1.1.2018 new regulations from the Ministry of the Environment Staircase dimensioning, handrail and handrail.

Sizing of internal stairs:

The step rise and rise of the stair shall be easily accessible for the intended use of the stair.

In lobbies and other interior spaces of buildings containing administrative, service and commercial premises and in assembly areas, the step rise shall not exceed 160 mm and the step rise shall be at least 300 mm. The internal stair rise in residential accommodation and accommodation spaces shall not exceed 190 mm and the step shall be at least 250 mm.

The internal stair rise in the other main service spaces shall not exceed 180 mm and the rise shall be not less than 270 mm. A stairway used exclusively as a spare stairway and leading to essential non-residential spaces in a dwelling or accommodation shall have a maximum rise of 220 mm and a minimum rise of 220 mm.

In an exit stairway, the rise in step shall not exceed 180 mm. The step shall be at least 270 mm. In an exit corridor which is not also used for normal internal movement within the building, the step shall not exceed 200 mm.

Handrail:

A handrail shall be provided in or adjacent to a building when the height of fall exceeds three feet and there is a risk of falling or stray falls, and the nature of the activity does not require a handrail. The handrail must be safe and capable of withstanding the loads to which it is subjected. The guardrail may be a guardrail or an open guardrail.

A guardrail shall be used in areas with a difference in level of more than 0,7 m where children have access. The protective part of the handrail shall extend at least 0,7 m above the surface of the platform or step. It shall not contain horizontal structures or patterns that make climbing possible.

Open rails may be used in areas where children have no access or where there is no risk of falling. A handrail may be replaced by any other arrangement which prevents falls or otherwise achieves the required level of safety, where the difference in height does not exceed one metre. The total height of the handrail shall be one metre where the height of fall does not exceed six metres. Above this height, the total height of the handrail shall be 1,2 metres. For balconies serving no more than one dwelling, a handrail one metre high is sufficient, regardless of the height of fall.

However, in the interior of the dwelling, the height of the handrail may be at least 0,9 m when the height of fall is less than three metres.

Handrail:

Stairs and ramps shall have handrails along the entire length and on both sides of the plunge. Where necessary, two handrails shall be provided, one above the other, to accommodate children and wheelchair users. The handrail shall provide a firm grip. The handrail and its end shall be secure and shall continue past the start and end of the plunge. The handrail shall continue uninterrupted on the intermediate platform.

In indoor and outdoor public, commercial and service premises, the handrail shall extend at least 300 mm beyond the start and end of the plunge, and in assembly areas on stairs or ramps more than 2,4 m wide, the handrail shall also be positioned to divide the passage into sections of up to that width.
